When it comes to making your first tandem skydive at Skydive Danielson we want you to be fully prepared for the most exciting day of your life! Clothing options are a big part of a fun and safe skydive. Here’s what you should make sure to have with you on the day of your tandem skydive:
Sneakers or flat-soled shoes are a MUST when you skydive. If you walk into our Skydiving Office with boots with hooked laces, heels, sandals, flip flops, etc., we will have to ask you to change your shoes (sneakers are available in our office).
Most parachute landings are similar to a baseball player sliding into home base. Sneakers are the best shoes for landings as they slide easily across the ground and protect your feet.
Wearing flat-soled shoes and sneakers help keep your feet safe during landing. So please, be sure to bring the right style shoe for your big day!
In all honesty, you can pretty much wear whatever you would like when it comes to your clothing choices for your tandem skydive. However, it is recommended you wear active clothing. You will be more comfortable in your harness as well as be able to arch more freely while wearing active clothing as opposed to a suit and tie or a tight pair of jeans.
Believe it or not, it is actually 30º cooler up at 14,000 ft than it is on the ground due to something scientists call 'lapse rate'. For this reason, it is always good to have some thin light layers or even thermals depending on what the ground temperature is.
This is a friendly reminder to not wear any type of jewelry, such as watches, earrings, necklaces, rings, expensive glasses and more on your skydive. If you can't bear to live without it - leave it on the ground. We recommend keeping your valuables either at home, in your car or with a spectator on the ground. Even though you want your grandma to be with you in spirit while wearing her favorite pearl necklace, you could end up losing that valuable item jumping out of the plane at 14,000 feet and it’s simply not worth it.
Yes! Contacts are a much better choice, customers rarely loose them while in freefall. We do recommend bringing an extra paid just in case,
We have goggles that will fit over glasses, but be sure to bring Croakies to keep them securely attached to your face (available for purchase in Store). Wear an old pair of glasses just in case you lose them!
This is the most critical and valuable piece of advise we can share with you while making your first tandem skydive, BRING THAT SMILE! We want to see you having the time of your life and you want your video to be awesome so you can show it off to all your friends and make them go skydiving too! Worried about your face being all jiggly during freefall? SMILE. Want to show everyone how badass you can be while falling out of a perfectly good airplane, SMILE. Want to be featured on our social media, throw up a peace sign and SMILE. You wont regret something as amazing as making your first ever skydive and having that brilliant smile on your face in all of your photos and video!
If you look around the skydiving center you will notice that most licensed jumpers wear jumpsuits. Not only does it help you look like a pro, but it helps protect your clothes from getting damaged. Skydiving is a pretty extreme environment and it is not uncommon to get rips, tears and grass stains on your clothes. If you put a jumpsuit on, you'll protect your clothing and look like a bad ass all at the same time.
PRO TIP - If you are getting video and photos you DEFINITELY want to wear a jumpsuit. The bright colors are designed to help your pictures pop against the sky blue background.
