Skydive Danielson hosted its first Canopies For Kids event over the July 4th holiday weekend.Canopies for Kids is a charity that takes the 'Bravest Teddy Bears in the World' on skydives. These 'Courage Bears' are then delivered to children at the CT Children's Medical Center. The skydivers who participated have big hearts and wanted help spread smiles and laughter to children at their local medical center.
The CT Children's Medical Center told us that 75 bears would be a great goal so that every child in their care could receive a Courage Bear. The skydivers at Skydive Danielson smashed this goal and were able to donate 135 bears. Not only did a Courage Bear get donated to each child (and plenty more for future residents) but $5 per bear was also donated to the hospital adding up to a total donation of $675.
We just couldn't wait for the event to come! 135 Courage Bears showed up ready and willing to jump out of a perfectly good airplane. These bears did not hesitate for a moment and bravely went on their skydives with the help from a few good friends. 135 Bears were jumped over the 5 day holiday weekend. Smiles, laughter and fun were had on every skydive. Our top Bear donations came from Mark Davis, Steve Vigliotti and Doug Hamel. Over 40 other skydivers donated bears to the event. Thanks to everyone who participated! We hope the children at the CT Children's Medical Center enjoy watching the Courage Bears skydive and gain strength from their new friends.
